What the charity does

Stocksbridge Community Leisure Centre is operated by the Trust for Public Benefit and offers a full range of sporting and leisure activities for the community.The Trust took over the operation of the centre in Summer 2013 following a successful community led campaign to save it, following the closure by Sheffield City Council in May 2013.

A TO PROVIDE OR ASSIST IN THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE COMMUNITY IN SHEFFIELD, BARNSLEY AND KIRKLEES (THE “AREA OF BENEFIT”) FOR RECREATION, AMATEUR SPORTS AND GAMES OR OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE, SUCH FACILITIES BEING PROVIDED TO THE PUBLIC AT LARGE WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE, SAVE THAT SPECIAL FACILITIES MAY BE PROVIDED FOR PERSONS WHO BY REASON OF THEIR YOUTH, AGE, INFIRMITY OR DISABILITY, POVERTY OR SOCIAL OR ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES MAY HAVE NEED OF SPECIAL FACILITIES AND SERVICES. IN FURTHERING THIS OBJECT THE TRUSTEES WILL OPERATE STOCKSBRIDGE LEISURE CENTRE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT.
