- THE OBJECTS OF THE OF THE CIO ARE:(1) TO ALLEVIATE THE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP SUFFERED BY THE FAMILIES OF SICK CHILDREN IN THE UK, WHERE THE CHILD’S ILLNESS REQUIRES THEM TO REMAIN IN HOSPITAL FOR LONGER THAN 5 DAYS OR A SIGNIFICANT DISTANCE FROM THEIR HOME FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. THIS WILL BE ACHIEVED, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, THROUGH THE PROVISION OF FINANCIAL GRANTS TO HELP COVER COSTS RESULTING FROM THE CHILDREN’S ILLNESS SUCH AS TRANSPORT TO AND FROM THE HOSPITAL AND/OR THE COST OF TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION NEAR THE HOSPITAL.(2) TO RELIEVE THE SUFFERING AND EMOTIONAL DISTRESS AMONGST PARENTS AND FAMILIES OF SUCH CHILDREN BY THE PROVISION OF EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND REFERRING TO CHARITIES, SUPPORT GROUPS AND SERVICES FOR LONG TERM OR SPECIALIST HELP.
