Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
The Charity’s objects (‘the Objects’) are to:- (1) Support individuals and families affected by addiction and associated psychological trauma by providing a holistic aftercare service in a non-residential setting for those living in the Newry and Mourne area and its environs (the “beneficiaries”), without distinction of age, sex, sexual orientation, race, political, religious or other opinion with the object of preventing relapse, encouraging change and improving the way of life for all beneficiaries. (2) Provide an aftercare service within a safe and confidential therapeutic framework delivered by appropriately professionally qualified counsellors. (3) Alleviate distress and offer assistance to beneficiaries who have suffered as a consequence of addiction by the provision of individual and group counselling, educational workshops, delivery of a tailored therapeutic programme and the provision of literature, which will inform and educate beneficiaries on all aspects of addiction including cause, effect, recovery and prevention of relapse. (4) Challenge stigma and discrimination with regard to all aspects of addiction and encourage greater inclusion and re-engagement within the community of all beneficiaries. (5) Advance the education of the public into and raise awareness of the causes and effects of addiction. (6) Provide a comprehensive aftercare programme for all beneficiaries which will aim to break the cycle of addiction, to free families from the heartache of a loved one in addiction and to rediscover relationships in families lost to addiction.
