Charitable purposes

3.1 The association is established to promote the benefits of the inhabitants of the Cookstown and Magherafelt areas/districts or other such geographical districts/areas as the committee may decide from time to time (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, in accordance with section 75 of the Northern Act 1998. Further, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to promote activity which relieves the effects of poverty, sickness, learning difficulties and old age and to advance education, in the interest of social welfare, for the improvement of the conditions of life for those in the area of benefit and in particular to; (a) Integrate adults with a learning difficulty into the community and to offer those individuals the chance to learn new skills and partake in organised activities, recognising the importance of competent management at all times yet with assistance from volunteers where possible. (b) Provide support, information, training and advice which enhance the effectiveness of volunteers to promote charitable activities in the area of benefit. (c) Acknowledge the contribution of volunteers to the achievements of the above objects.
