Charitable purposes

The company’s objects are specifically restricted to the advancement of education, the promotion of social inclusion and the promotion of the benefit of those inhabitants who are disabled and those with special needs or learning disabilities and associated problems (hereinafter called the “beneficiaries”) of Northern Ireland (“hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability/ability, race, nationality, ethnic origin, political, religious or other opinion by associating the statutory and local authorities, voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular: (a) to advance the education of those inhabitants who are disabled and those with special needs or learning disabilities and/or who would not otherwise have access to information technology in the use of computers, communication technologies and digital technology by the provision of facilities, information, equipment, training, classes, workshops, exhibitions, seminars and support in such charitable ways as the directors may from time to time decide in an effort to promote access to communication technologies and digital inclusion; (b) to promote digital and social inclusion and integration for the public benefit by raising public awareness amongst the general public, elected representatives and statutory agencies on issues affecting digital inclusion and access for those inhabitants who are disabled and those with special needs or learning disabilities; (c) to relieve poverty and unemployment by the promotion, facilitation and organisation of adequate, accessible and quality programmes of vocational and educational training in digital communication and technology in an effort to acquire skills and retraining to assist the beneficiaries in obtaining new skills and employment; (d) to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the directors, may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity. For the purposes of this clause ‘socially excluded’ means those who are excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one or more of the following factors: unemployment; age, ill health (physical or mental), financial hardship; race; gender; poor educational or skills attainment; substance abuse or dependency including alcohol and drugs; disability; ethnic origin; crime (either as a victim or offender), or who are within, or have experienced, the public care or penal system’). For the purposes of this this clause the expression "learning disability" shall include any learning disability, developmental disability of the mind, sensory impairment, acquired brain injury or mental health problem.
