The objects of the society shall be to foster interest in all aspects of the history of Saintfield and its surrounding districts, including the geography, folklore, customs, dialects and place names of the area; to organise lectures by experts in the various fields; to arrange field excursions to places of interest; to provide facilities for study groups; to unearth and document new or existing information and to encourage the preservation of objects, which may be in danger of destruction.
