Charitable purposes

The company’s objects are for the advancement of religious life and practise of the Christian Faith and the protection and preservation of physical and mental health and well-being, the relief of poverty, hardship and sickness and the promotion of the benefit of the inhabitants (hereinafter called “the beneficiaries”) of the Belfast area and its environs of Northern Ireland, (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion in particular but not exclusively (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”), by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular: (b) to relieve suffering and promote the preservation and protection of mental health of those people and their families in the area of benefit who are suffering or experiencing mental or emotional distress and anguish as a result of mental illness, emotional disability, drug and alcohol addiction, social and/or economic circumstances, domestic abuse and/or violence and difficulties in their personal lives by the provision of counselling, education, treatment, prevention projects – support and training; (c) to promote or assist in promoting community capacity building programmes and projects for the benefit of the inhabitants within the area of benefit who have need of such assistance as a result of their youth, age, disability or infirmity, or social and economic circumstances, in an effort to increase the abilities, life skills and self-confidence of such communities in the area of benefit; (d) to relieve persons in conditions of need, homelessness, hardship, distress or sickness arising there from whether in connection with housing or accommodation or shelter or any other purposes (whether by loan gift the provision of accommodation or shelter or in any other way) in the Belfast area and in such other parts of Northern Ireland, in particular but not exclusively as the trustee directors may from time to time decide in accordance with the law of charity; (e) to engage in relief projects and in the provision of resources, training and financial support to assist those in poverty, suffering and distress in the area of benefit in an effort to improve their quality of life; (f) To help people in their spiritual and personal development. To facilitate a sense of purpose and meaning in life, to increase the effective of churches, relief organisations and individuals in the delivery of exclusively charitable services to the poor and needy in the area of benefit doing so through counselling, support and training; (g) to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the trustee directors, may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity.
