Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
The association is established to advance music education and the performing arts among people over the age of 16 with learning disabilities (hereinafter called the beneficiaries) in the North-West of the island of Ireland (hereinafter called the area of benefit) and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said beneficiaries and in particular to: a) advance the educational opportunities for the beneficiaries; b) provide and develop the performing arts for the benefit of the beneficiaries in the area of benefit and encourage appreciation for and participation in performing arts activities among the beneficiaries in the area of benefit; c) provide practical assistance designed to enable the beneficiaries to avail of resources and tuition who would not otherwise be able to access such resources; d) raise awareness among the general public of the needs and experiences, and potential contributions of people with learning disabilities in the area of benefit. e) present, promote, organise, manage and produce plays of cultural and educational value, including performances, dramas, comedies, operas, operetas, burlesques, films, broadcasts, television shows, concerts, musical pieces, puppet shows, ballets, entertainments and exhibitions.
