Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
The Charity’s objects (‘the Objects’) are to benefit the residents of Omagh and surrounding areas (the “area of benefit”) and those living in other parts of the world, without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity or political or religious opinion by:- (1) Advancing in life and relieving the needs of young people through the provision of recreational and leisure-time activities provided in the interests of social welfare in order to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals and to improve their conditions of life. (2) Providing or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation of members of the public or for those who have need of such facilities by reason of their age, disability, social circumstances, risk of social exclusion or other disadvantage. (3) Relieving poverty and financial hardship by the provision of: (a) food and other necessities to people and families in hardship; (b) a charity shop where donated goods may be purchased at low cost and funds raised for those in need; (c) providing a link to organisations offering advice on good financial practice. (4) Promoting mental and physical health and well-being by working in co-operation with and with reference to statutory agencies, voluntary, community and church organisations and others that are already involved in advancing education and training and raising awareness among the public of: (a) the causes and effects of suicide intervention thereby seeking to reduce the risk and occurrence of suicide; (b) the effects of drug and substance misuse and the means of preventing such misuse. (5) Promoting good community relations, social cohesion, religious and racial harmony and equality and diversity.
