Charitable purposes

The Association is established to advance education about cardiac illness and its related conditions, to relieve sickness and to promote, protect and preserve the health and well being of people who have or have suffered from cardiac related illnesses and conditions (hereinafter called the 'beneficiaries') in the areas of Waveney and Antrim and their environs in Co. Antrim (hereinafter called the 'area of benefit') without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations in a common effort to advance education and relieve sickness with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said beneficiaries and in particular to: (a) foster an atmosphere of mutual support among the beneficiaries and their families and friends or carers in the area of benefit, and to encourage them to provide mutual support and encouragement to each other; (b) to raise awareness for the benefit of the public in the area of benefit about the effects of cardiac illness and methods of prevention or management of such illnesses; (c) provide or assist in the provision of facilities for treatment, recreation, education, for the benefit of the beneficiaries and the general public in the area of benefit; (d) provide funds, equipment and contributions in such manner as the Association thinks fit, to supplement the facilities and equipment of the cardiac units of the Northern and Belfast Trust Hospitals in order to provide benefits to all cardiac patients and the community.
