Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
(1) Promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Knocknagoney, Garnerville and Orchardville areas of Belfast and their environs (the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnic identity, nationality, disability, or political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to:- (a) promote education and training; (b) relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability or other disadvantage; (c) promote health and well-being and healthy recreation; (d) enhance community safety; (e) promote environmental improvement and otherwise improve the appearance of the area of benefit; (2) Advance community development in the area of benefit and in particular the promotion of the community and voluntary sector for the benefit of the public by: (a) providing support and information; (b) creating and supporting initiatives, developing projects and organising events that strengthen the community and voluntary sector; (c) promoting community capacity building; (d) promoting good practice among community and voluntary groups; (e) encouraging such groups to co-operate to achieve their aims. (3) Provide and maintain a Forum where member organisations can join together to find mutual support, exchange views, share common issues and information, create a collective voice and work in partnership with statutory agencies and authorities. (4) Promote good community relations, social cohesion, religious and racial harmony and equality and diversity.
