Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
To relieve the suffering of those who have experienced trauma and their families (the beneficiaries) in Northern Ireland (the area of benefit) without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, ability, marital status, age, race, or political, religious or other opinions by associating with the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to promote the protection of good health and spiritual well being and in particular to: a) Provide trauma recovery programmes (based on the therapeutic value of group sharing and the known benefits of disclosing one’s traumatic memories) and other treatments and support services to the beneficiaries and their families and refer those in need of one to one treatment to the relevant counsellors; b) Advance the education in the field of trauma recovery by the provision of information and specialised training for therapists, facilitators, health professionals, counsellors, members, programme participants and other interested people and to promote medical and scientific research into the causes, effects and reliefs of trauma and the best methods of treatment thereof; c) To advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the directors may, from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity
