Charitable purposes

The relief of need and the advancement of education of the inhabitants of the Katesbridge area and its environs in Co. Down (hereinafter described as 'the area of benefit') without distinction of age, sex, race, disability, political, religious or other opinion by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to a) advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, education, recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; b) to advance knowledge and appreciation of the Ulster Scots language and culture and to encourage understanding and acceptance of all indigenous cultures to the area of benefit; c) promote good citizenship in the area of benefit by educating people, in particular but not exclusively women, about family-life skills and encouraging rural women to become more knowledgeable and participative citizens in local and national affairs.
