Charitable purposes

The Company’s objects are specifically restricted to the promotion, development and support of the voluntary and community sector, the promotion, conservation and improvement of the physical and natural environment, the advancement of community development, the advancement of education and the promotion of the benefit and wellbeing of the inhabitants (hereinafter called the “beneficiaries”) of the Holywood area and its environs of County Down, Northern Ireland in particular but not exclusively (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability/ability, race, ethnic origin, political, religious or other opinion by associating the statutory or local authorities, voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of fostering a community spirit and improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular: (a) to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of voluntary and community organisations and projects in the area of benefit by providing advice, information, education and training and practical assistance to such organisations and projects for the benefit of the public; (b) to promote or assist in the promotion of and cooperation and networking between voluntary and community organisations in the area of benefit between themselves and others; (c) to promote or assist in promoting community capacity building programmes and projects for the benefit of the people in the area of benefit who have need of such assistance as a result of their youth, age, disability or infirmity, or social and economic circumstances, in an effort to increase the abilities, skills and self-confidence of such communities in the area of benefit; (d) to support community development and wellbeing activities and to work with partners to support community cohesion and community relations, the promotion of adequate housing conditions and the development of a sustainable community; (e) to identify the funding and policy needs of voluntary and community organisations in the area of benefit; (f) to advance promote and further the conservation maintenance and protection of features of the landscape in the area of benefit with geographical, physiographical or amenity value and to enhance their contribution to existing environmental amenities in the area of benefit; (g) to promoting good community relations in an effort to foster a sentiment in favour of equality, religious harmony and diversity and thereby endeavouring to eliminate racial, religious and sectarian discrimination; (h) to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the directors, may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity.
