Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
The objectives for which the Charity is established are to promote for the public benefit:- a. The advancement of the arts, culture and heritage by the promotion of Schola Cantorum singing by boys and men, at St Peter's Cathedral, Belfast or elsewhere as the Trustees may from time to time determine. b. The advancement of education by encouraging, educating and assisting those performing and those listening to Schola Cantorum and other traditionally-based cathedral and church music to understand, appreciate and enjoy it's beauty and serenity and the musical, religious, cultural and artistic heritage of such music and thereby to enrich and deepen the devotional and musical life and understanding of those performing and those listening to such music and to improve their conditions of life. c. The advancement of education by the teaching and consequent enjoyment; of traditionally-based cathedral, church and other devotionally uplifting, fulfilling and life-enhancing music, of singing, both vocal and choral; and of playing of the organ and other instruments, whether to be used or employed in conjunction or associated with the performance of such foregoing traditionally-based music, or otherwise; and thereby to enrich and deepen the devotional and musical life and understanding of those performing and those listening to such music and to improve their conditions of life. d. The advancement of education by teaching and training of organ scholars; future music teachers and musical directors in this tradition.
