Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
The Group is established to promote the benefit of the people resident in the Scarva area by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, promote the arts and protect and preserve the health of the said people. In particular the Group will: - Promote awareness of the cultural heritage (including history, language, music, literature and folklore) of people of the Ulster-Scots community in the Scarva area; - Provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for education, recreation and other leisure time activity with the object of improving the conditions of life of the people of Ulster-Scots community who are in need of such facilities as a result of their youth, age, poverty, social or economic circumstances; - Enable the people of the Ulster-Scots community to grow in understanding and confidence in their own cultural heritage that they may be in a position to share on an equitable basis with other traditions; - Provide encouragement and practical support services to existing and new organisations whose aims are compatible with the group so as to increase their efficiency and effectiveness.
