Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
3.1 The Trust is established to support by means of financial assistance and voluntary work to any charitable project the advancement of education, the promotion of the Christian faith, the advancement of physical education and community participation in healthy recreation, and the promotion of the benefit of children and young people aged 0-18 (hereinafter called “the beneficiaries”) in the Greater Belfast area of Northern Ireland in particular but not exclusively (hereinafter referred to as “the area of benefit”) and to promote the benefit of those beneficiaries who are in need of assistance as a result of their poverty or social and economic circumstances by associating with the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants of the area of benefit in a common effort to improve the conditions of life for the said beneficiaries and in particular: 3.1.1 to advance and promote the Christian faith for the benefit of the beneficiaries in the area of benefit in such ways as the Trustees may from time to time decide; 3.1.2 to advance physical education, health and well-being and community participation in healthy recreation through the provision of facilities and equipment for the playing of sports so as to develop their physical fitness, mental and emotional capacities that they grow to full maturity as individuals and citizens and that their conditions of life may be improved and through such other means as the trustees may from time to time think fit in accordance with the law of charity; 3.1.3 to provide funds, equipment and contributions in such manner as the Trustees thinks fit, to supplement public and statutory facilities and equipment for the recreation and leisure time activities of children and young people in the interests of social welfare; 3.1.4 to advance the education of children and young people on the basis of Christian principles through their educational and leisure activities so as to develop their spiritual, physical, mental and emotional capacities in such ways as the Trustees may from time to time think fit; 3.1.5 to recruit, select and send out volunteers for service within the area of benefit; 3.1.6 to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the Trustees, may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity.
