Charitable purposes

The objects (“Objects”) of the Charity are to: (1) Advance community development in, and the regeneration of, the Glenelly valley and its environs (the “area of benefit”) by: (i) managing land and buildings for the benefit of the community and providing facilities, resources, support and information to community and voluntary organisations; (ii) organising and providing facilities for community and family events in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of, and visitors to, the area of benefit; (iii) promoting the enhancement of the natural and built environment and maintaining, improving or providing public amenities and otherwise improving the appearance of the area of benefit; (iv) promoting co-operation and partnership working between community and voluntary organisations and public and statutory agencies and bodies and influencing decision makers and negotiating on behalf of the community. (2) Advance education and training for the public benefit by organising classes, courses and programmes. (3) Relief poverty and promote sustainable means of creating employment and training opportunities in the area of benefit by: (i) the development of tourism facilities, opportunities for cultural and recreational activities and the provision of business premises on favourable terms; (ii) providing accommodation for people in necessitous circumstances on terms appropriate to their means.
