2. Purposes 2.1. The advancement of history education of all teachers and pupils in secondary education in Northern Ireland on a cross-community basis. In furtherance of this purpose HTANI will: (a) Promote and encourage cross-community and cross-sector co-operation between teachers and pupils in the secondary education sector in Northern Ireland. (b) Collaborate and share practical advice and experience between history teachers with the aim of enhancing history teaching standards. (c). Promote new developments of historical research and new approaches to teaching among history teachers in Northern Ireland. (d). Establish links with similar associations in Ireland, the UK and Europe.
