Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
The Charity’s objects (“Objects”) are to benefit the inhabitants of and visitors to Northern Ireland, without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, or political, religious or other opinion, by establishing, developing and maintaining new and existing facilities, land, buildings and amenities in the Newforge area of Belfast and elsewhere as a community resource, and in particular: (1) Promote and encourage community participation in amateur sports, healthy recreation and, in the interests of social welfare, other leisure-time occupations for the public at large or for individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, disablement or social and economic circumstances. (2) Advance arts, culture and education by organising and delivering arts and cultural activities, performances and events and educational and training opportunities and operating and managing museum, exhibition and conference facilities. (3) Advance community development and active citizenship by: (i) promoting inclusivity, good community relations, social cohesion, racial and religious harmony and equality and diversity; (ii) organising and delivering , for the public benefit, social, celebratory and community events and initiatives; (iii) facilitating the availability and safeguarding of assets for use by the community and sports, community and voluntary sector groups and organisations.
