Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
(i) the advancement of education in and the promotion of academic research into the role of Clandeboye and the family of the Marquess of Dufferin, past and present, in the history of the following countries with particular reference to the career of the first Marquess of Dufferin:- (1) the Island of Ireland (2) the Dominion of Canada (3) the sub-continent of India (4) the countries of France, Turkey, Italy and Russia (5) such other countries in the world with which the first Marquess of Dufferin may have been involved (ii) the publication and dissemination of the results of such research; and (iii) the establishment and maintenance of scholarships, grants, allowances and prizes scholar ships, grants, allowances and prizes to be awarded to students. engaged in any such research whether or not the whole or part of that research shall have been carried out at Clandeboye and; and (iv) the promotion and aid of any related research; and (v) the promotion and aid at Clandeboye and elsewhere of the work of the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers and any other bodies (established exclusively for charitable purposes) having as one of their objects the work or conservation and preservation (vi) the support of the Northern Irish Hospice (vii) from and after the time when any legal estate or interest (other than a licence) of Clandeboye is vested in the Trustees:- (aa) the preservation for the public benefit of the whole or such part of the buildings and their grounds and surroundings of Clandeboye as may be so vested in the Trustees (bb) the protection and improvement of the amenities of Clandeboye for public benefit (cc) the preservation for the public benefit. of furniture pictures and chattels of any description that may be given to the Trustees to be kept at Clandeboye (dd) the facilities and encouragement of access to and the study and appreciation of Clandeboye and such furniture and chattels as aforesaid by the general public (For the remainder of the purposes please contact the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland)
