Charitable purposes

The association is established to: 2.1 To represent and promote the interests and benefits of the inhabitants of the Whitemountain, Beanstown and Ballyclough areas bounded by Sheepwalk Rd, Pond Park Rd, Beanstown Rd, Glenavy Road and Whinney Hill and their environs (hereinafter described as “the area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to protect the local environment, improve rural road safety, advance education, relieve poverty, reduce sickness and to provide (or support the provision of) facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; 2.2 to manage and develop a Community Centre (hereinafter called "the Centre") and to maintain and manage or to co-operate with any local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a Centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects. 2.3 The Association will promote any charitable aim to further the above objectives; and will foster a community spirit in order to advance education and to provide facilities for training and recreation, to further health and the relief of poverty, sickness and distress.
