Purposes and classifications
Charitable purposes
The Charity’s objects (“Objects”) are to:- 1. To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Waterside DEA (hereinafter called ‘the Area of Benefit’) without distinction of sex, race, disability, or political, religious or other opinion and in particular having regard to the imperatives of the need to promote equality of opportunity among the nine categories of persons identified in section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 and the desirability of promoting good relations among the three categories of persons identified in that statutory provision. 2. To liaise with relevant statutory and voluntary organisations and the residents of the Area of Benefit in a common effort to advance the quality of life through self-help in community development initiatives, and the provision of facilities for recreation and leisure-time occupations and ensuring equal representation of both communities in the accessing services and programmes 3. To identify available funding opportunities and advise on how such funding might be obtained for the mutual benefit of the centre, and its users. 4. To promote best practice in Neighbourhood Renewal/Community Planning for the future management and development of the Waterside Shared Village programme of activity.
