Charitable purposes

The Charitable Purposes of the BTRC are as follows: to improve the lives of trans, non-binary, intersex, questioning or any other individual in Northern Ireland who identifies as a member of the transgender community (i.e. non-cisgender), in any way deemed appropriate by the directors and in accordance with charity law in Northern Ireland, by the provision of a safe social space, education and training, social events and enjoyable activities, opportunities to develop skills and whatever other activities as deemed to meet the needs of the service users (defined below) by the directors; to advance the understanding of the general populace of Northern Ireland’s understanding of transgender issues, transgender needs and to dispel harmful notions or understandings of the transgender community through advocacy and education; to promote the equality and diversity of Northern Ireland by working towards better understanding and inclusion of the transgender community; to promote and assist in the co-operation and networking between voluntary and community organisations and individuals engaged in programmes of public education designed to increase public understanding and awareness of Trans, Non-Binary and Intersex people; to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the directors, may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity. The Charity shall endeavour to operate in an open, accountable and inclusive way in all its activities.
