02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Younger (Benmore) Trust makes funds available for such agreed projects in the Garden as come within the aims of the Trust but which cannot readily be funded from normal Botanic Garden sources. The Trust periodically also makes funds available to assist garden staff in furthering their knowledge of silvicultural and botanical practices and it may provide student incentives from time to time. The purposes include the advancement of education, the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science, the advancement of environmental protection or improvement.

Constitutional objectives

Without prejudice to these presents in all other respects. but the conveyance hereby made is granted in trust always and for the ends, uses and purposes hereinafter mentioned, videlicet:- the revenue to be received by the Trustees from the feuduties and the rents or other proceeds of the subjects hereby disponed shall, after paying all expenses of management, taxes, and other necessary outlays, be used by the Trustees for the maintenance of the amenity utility and beauty of the Policies and Gardens of Benmore House and for the prosecution of research and the advancement of education in botany and sylviculture at Benmore.... Declaring that in the event of Benmore ceasing to be used for the prosecution of research and the advancement of education in botany and sylviculture, the Trustees shall thereupon denude of the said Trust and shall reconvey and dispose to me or my foresaids the whole of the subjects hereby conveyed by me in trust.
