02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Benevolent Fund gives small grants to students at institutes of Further or Higher education in Scotland eligible to be members of the Stewart Society. to help with their studies or in gaining employment.

Constitutional objectives
(a) In the assistance of Members of The Stewart Society, their widows, husbands, children or dependants and relatives and dependants of patrons who may have fallen into necessitous circumstances, and that either by periodical allowances in cash or kind, or by donations to assist them in establishing small businesses. (b) Should any balance of revenue remain in the hands of the Committee after satisfying the primary objects above stated, they may, if they see fit, apply it in assisting in like circumstances lapsed members, their husbands, widows, or dependants, or any persons of the name of Stewart or their dependants.
