What the charity exists to do
The Charitable Society was formed to support community, recreation & leisure-time facilities that are conducive to the improvement of the conditions of living of the inhabitants of Dalkeith and the surrounding neighborhood thereof, with particular (but not exclusive) reference to such of the inhabitants as are members of the mining community. The charity provides wide ranging support for the local community through leisure and recreational activities, fund raising and social events for all ages. We promote local groups and sporting teams and allow them to use the charity's facilities in partnership with Dalkeith Miners Welfare Society and we provide substantial support to our OAP groups and users. The objects and activities of the charity are set in our constitution, and by providing leisure and recreational activities for our members and the wider community we are fulfilling this obligation.
