02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Charity is set up to help improve the quality of life of elderly people in and around Alva. It holds regular whist/dominoes nights, takes members on a summer bus trip, and provides a Christmas dinner with entertainment.

Constitutional objectives
The objects for which the Committee is established are:- To promote and assist the general good of all elderly people of Alva and the surrounding areas ('the operating area') by undertaking the following activities:- (a) providing information on all aspects of social concern to elderly people. (b) providing social events to residents of the operating area to enhance their quality of life. (c) expressing concern and interest when any elderly person is sick. (d) arranging annual distribution of small gifts to sick and housebound elderly people within the operating area.
