02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To promote and provide historical interest in the weaving industry which played a major part in the history of creating Paisley and putting it on the international map, plus our tearoom provides refreshments and food to visitors plus the chance to learn more from the volunteers working in there and well as providing and friendly safe space where many locals especially elderly (many who live alone) come for refreshments and food and a chat with the volunteers.

Constitutional objectives
3.1 To encourage members in the research and study of Paisley and District to the present day. 3.2 To promote historical interest in international connections with the town of Paisley. 3.3 To act as a 'watchdog' in local affairs where they may affect aspects of Paisley's historical heritage. 3.4 To publish the Society's transactions where applicable. 3.5 To encourage high standards of architecture and town planning in Paisley and District. 3.6 To preserve buildings, photographs, records and other appropriate historical material as and when they come into the possession of the Society.
