02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
In furtherance of our charitable activities, the Trust's main activities are to: 1) Manage wild places - through owning 25,400 hectares of some of the finest wild places in the UK. We manage land to protect it, repair damage and keep it wild for future generations. 2)Protect wild places - the Trust raises awareness of unique and irreplaceable benefits of wild places 3) Raise awareness of wild places - our engagement plan uses a variety of tools designed to build awareness and public support for wild places including - membership, volunteering, visitor centres and education programmes

Constitutional objectives
3. 3.1 The Trust's object is to conserve and protect wild places with their indigenous animals, plants and soils for the benefit of present and future generations, and in particular: 3.1.1 to conserve wild places and their landscapes, both for their own sake and for the sustenance and inspiration they give to humanity. 3.1.2 to protect existing wild places so as to conserve their natural processes, and their indigenous animals, plants and soils. 3.1.3 to renew wild places, where they have been damaged, by encouraging natural processes. 3.1.4 to work with local communities and to encourage them to live in harmony with wild places. 3.1.5 to promote an awareness and understanding of wild places for their own sake and for their value to the benefit of humanity. 3.1.6 to stimulate public support to help protect wild places. 3.1.7 to encourage voluntary participation in the conservation and renewal of wild places.
