02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity is set up to provide a museum of Scottish railways with artefacts of all descriptions for the education and enjoyment of the public. The museum buildings together with a working five mile long railway line showcase these artefacts in both static and kinetic ways.

Constitutional objectives
To advance and promote the education of the general public, and in particular the inhabitants of Scotland without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions by associating voluntary organisations, local authorities and other bodiesof whatever status together with the inhabitants in a common effort to establish a Museum of Railways in Scotland.
