02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
1. To stimulate and promote the study of, and research in, the fields of History, Archaeology and other natural sciences. 2. To provide, or assist in the provision of, facilities in which members can acquire, record and disseminate information in the fields of study and research that might otherwise be lost to the community. 3. To collect, preserve and, when possible, display antiquities and maintain an inventory of all such items with a separate register of all articles on loan to or held by the Society.

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the Society shall be to promote the study of History, Natural History and Archaeology, particularly in Cumbernauld and adjacent counties. to record interesting discoveries. to collect and preserve antiquities. to encourage local research and to disseminate information which otherwise might be lost or confined to individuals. to co-operate with other and kindred Societies in achieving these objects and by the exchange of publications.
