02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Once the pension fund has been resolved the Zoological Society will be able to close.

Constitutional objectives

To establish, equip, carry on, and develop Zoological Parks or gardens, and living Zoological Collections at such places in the West of Scotland as the Society shall determine. b. To promote, facilitate, and encourage the study of Zoology and Animal Psychology, and to foster and develop among the people an interest in and knowledge of animal life. c. To purchase, take in feu, or on lease or otherwise receive and hold, occupy, build on, manage, improve, sell, let, fey exchange, mortgage, or dispose of, either by public roup or private bargain, any lands, houses, building or other heritable property, or any estate or interest therein in Scotland, and any moveable or personal rights or property, to such extent as may be deemed by the Society necessary or expedient for the purpose of canying out the objects of the Society or any of them, and to grant or execute all necessary deeds, contracts, obligations, or other writings. d. To cany on as principals or as lessees the business of restaurant, cafe and refreshment room proprietors, licensed victuallers, purveyors and caterers for public entertainment and to sell or grant leases, options and concessions for the sale of newspapers, magazines, books, tobacco, photographs and other commodities m and upon the property of the Society. C. For the purposes of the Society to cany on as principals or as lessees the business of proprietors of clubs, reading rooms and other recreation rooms, (maximum text reached, further full information can be obtained directly from the Charity)
