What the charity exists to do
To alleviate the conditions of life of blind people in Scotland by providing grants to charitable organisations who deal directly with the blind.

Constitutional objectives
To apply and expend the income thereof and in their sole discretion such part or even the whole of the capital thereof for any purpose or scheme to be selected by my Trustees from time to time which in their sole opinion is likely to bring more happiness into the lives of elderly blind people who are, at the time or respective times such income and/or capital is being so applied, resident in Scotland. and for the guidance of my Trustees, but in no way binding them I recommend that they should if they at any time or times find it expedient to do so, make payments or grants from time to time, and in such manner, and in such proportions, and either out of income or capital or both, all as my Trustees in their sole discretion may deem proper, to any Institution or Association or Asylum for the Blind, or to any body of persons, already constituted or which may hereafter be constituted, interested in the welfare of blind people in Scotland for the purpose of meeting part of the expense of providing board lodging outings and entertainments for elderly female blind people resident in Scotland, or for anyone or more of such purposes and in particular for the purpose of improving and/or extending Residential Homes for Blind Women and the Eventide Home both belonging to the Royal Blind Asylum and School Edinburgh.
