What the charity exists to do

We are the voice for Chartered Architects in Scotland. As their professional body we support and promote the value of architecture and the work of architects across Scotland. As a Scottish charity we play a unique role in assisting the creativity and experience of our Members to help individuals, communities, and businesses to develop a higher quality, more sustainable built environment. Our Members can inspire and support organisations and communities to reframe their plans. Our strategy focuses on promoting architecture through design, the people, the built environment, embedding value, collaborating, and supporting our Members’ voices across Scotland.

Constitutional objectives

The Objects of The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) are the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture and science, through: 3.1. Promoting and facilitating the study of the various crafts, arts, and sciences connected with the principles and practice of Architecture. and 3.2. Establishing and maintaining professional and corporate values, together with those ethical, environmental and social justice standards which support the practice of Architecture.
