02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
An Lanntair is a hub for creativity and the arts in the Outer Hebrides. We are a multi arts venue - at one and the same time a contemporary art gallery, a theatre, a cinema, a dance studio, a concern hall, a platform for poetry and literature, a studio - every space stretched to showcase the arts in multiple forms. Our mission is 'to connect and inspire people in producing extraordinary, creative programmes, uniquely rooted in the place and reflecting the arts and ideas of our time'.

Constitutional objectives
To promote the study, practice and knowledge of the arts for the public benefit and in furtherance of that object but not otherwise: (1) To present, promote, organise, provide, manage, and produce exhibitions, films, broadcasts, entertainments, and exhibitions whether on any premises of the Company or elsewhere as are conducive to the promotion, maintenance, improvement, and advancement of education or to the encouragement of the Arts.
