02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The FCAC is set up to support and promote interest in the City Art Centre and in Edinburgh Council’s Museums and Galleries. We do this by making grants to help acquire items for the permanent collection of The City Art Centre and Edinburgh Museums and Galleries. The FCAC also arrange visits to places of interest to the Friends as well as lectures and social events. Funds are raised by these events and membership subscriptions. All profits from events go to support the City Art Centre, the Edinburgh Museum, the Museum of Childhood, the Peoples' Story, the Writers' Museum, the Scott Monument, Lauriston Castle, etc. Details of each year's grants and donations are published in the Friends of the City Art Centre & Museums Annual Report.
