02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To continue the loyal tradition of the Clan both home and abroad, collect and preserve the history and traditions of the Clan, historical works of art, poetry, music, buildings and antiquities, promote the welfare of the Highlands, preserve its wildlife, foster the Gaelic language, songs, customs and encourage the wearing of the Clan's tartans.

Constitutional objectives
(a) The acknowledgement in practice of the spirit of the ancient motto BIODN EAGAL DE ORT (The fear of God be upon you). (b) The continuance of the loyal tradition of the Clan. (c) The general promotion of the interests of the Clan and cultivation of a spirit of kin and friendship and of social intercourse among the members. (d) The collection and preservation of the history and traditions of the Clan and its branches and of historical works of art, poetry, music, antiquities, and relics connected therewith. (e) The promotion of the welfare of the Scottish Highlands. the preservation of the mountain Fauna and Flora. the fostering of the Gaelic language and the old songs and customs. the encouragement of the wearing of the Clan’s tartans. the collection and preservation of records, traditions and historical matters bearing on the history of the Celtic race in Scotland and elsewhere and the study of folklore, the language and the dialects of Celtic Scotland. (f) The assistance of persons eligible for membership of the Association and their widows, husbands, children or dependants, who are in necessitous or poor circumstances.
