02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Space @ The Broomhouse Hub provides personal, social and community development opportunities for the local communities of Broomhouse, Parkhead, and Sighthill, all areas of multiple deprivation, with one of the data zones closest to the Hub ranking 792nd most deprived in Scotland (out of 6976). This is done via an array of groups, support and activities, which enables local people of all ages to flourish, thrive and achieve their highest potential. Space believes connections build communities and offers volunteering and employment opportunities to people disadvantaged by poverty or other limiting factors.

Constitutional objectives
The company has been formed to predominantly benefit the inhabitants of South West Locality Area, Edinburgh, as defined by The City of Edinburgh Council. The company will also take the opportunity to work with organisations with similar objectives, and local authorities, to deliver services in a wider geographical area. The company will operate with the following objects: 4.1 to promote the benefit of the community, through the provision of recreational facilities and activities in the interests of social welfare to improve their conditions of life. and 4.2 to advance education and training among the beneficiaries. and 4.3 to advance health among the beneficiaries. and 4.4 to provide relief of those beneficiaries in need by reason of their age, poor health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. But such that the company shall do so following principles of sustainable development .
