02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Edinburgh Science is a globally recognised science engagement organisation that inspires people of all ages and backgrounds through hands-on, immersive experiences. Our mission is to increase science capital, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to explore and appreciate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) while fostering a more informed, equitable, and sustainable society. We deliver our work through four core strands: • Public Engagement – including the Edinburgh Science Festival and city-wide events. • School Engagement – through Generation Science, our nationwide touring programme for primary schools. • Industry and Careers – inspiring the next generation through Careers Hive and industry engagement. • Community Outreach – working with marginalised and underserved groups to break down barriers to science access.
