02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Orkney Heritage Society cares for the beauty, heritage and character of Orkney. it encourages the preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity or historic interest. to do these things the Society organises lectures, conferences and trips, publishes various publications and organises a series of awards.

Constitutional objectives

4 The Society's purposes are: 4.1 To stimulate public interest in, and care for, the beauty, history and character of Orkney. 4.2 To encourage the preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity or historic interest. 4.3 To encourage high standards of architecture and planning in Orkney. And in furtherance thereof: to organise public lectures, conferences, exhibitions and trips, publish various publications and organise a series of awards.
