02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity has been set up to promote arts and crafts, principally drawing and painting, in all forms of media, over block sessions which run for 10 week periods. Currently 2 blocks run each year and are held in local authority premises. A tutor gives guidance and instruction and fellow group members also offer help and assistance to other group members. The charity tries to grow the group through limited exterenal advertising on local notice boards.

Constitutional objectives

a) To promote arts and crafts activities for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Perth and Kinross District without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions by associating with local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare and recreation and leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of the life of said inhabitants. b) To secure the establishment, maintaining and management of an Arts and Crafts centre for the activities promoted by the Arts Workshop in the furtherance of the above objects or any of them.
