02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Home-Start Edinburgh believes that childhood can’t wait. We believe it takes a village to raise a child, but a lot of families don’t have the support and community they need. We help provide an equitable and fair start for children in Edinburgh by supporting families that are facing a variety of challenges. Our highly trained volunteers deliver needs-based support and promote family bonding, joy and resilience. The interventions we make, and the skills and resilience we build, can last a lifetime. Our network of staff and volunteers support families through 1:1 support in the home and community venues, and through our range of group work activities in Edinburgh. To access the service families must have a child under 5, and be living in the City of Edinburgh.
