02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our charity is a Gaelic Baby and Toddler Group aimed at children aged 0-5 and their parents/carers, providing the opportunity to meet and play in a relaxed, fun and supportive environment that encourages the use of Gaelic. We offer free-flow immersive play with a craft activity and messy/sensory play activity that provide our playleader with the opportunity to talk with the children about what they are doing in Gaelic. We finish our session with a Gaelic song and story session delivered through the medium of Gaelic. We use Gaelic words and phrases with the children and parents/carers. We work very closely with the local nursery and primary school to ensure smooth and successful transitions into GME, as well as trying to raise our profile within the community with the goal of raising awareness and support for GME and we are actively making plans for more collaborative intergenerational learning between the nursery, primary and high schools and within the wider community.
