02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Set by the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) to support rugby players facing financial hardship particularly those permanent disabled as well as those totally temporally disabled. When a player is seriously injured their club submits a relevant form to the SRU. A doctor contacts the player and as well as their medical welfare ascertains if there is potential financial hardship. If thy think there is the players fills in a form which is assessed by the Cahir and the Independent Trustees and they make a recommendation to the other trustees. After discussion a decision is made and the payer receive the the grant. Where appropriate the regional trustees contact the player's club and check on their welfare.
