02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Scotdec’s vision is that children and young people in Scotland are able and motivated to challenge global inequality creating a fairer future for all. We are committed to social justice, sustainable development, anti-racism, equality and diversity. We work to build capacity within the Scottish education sector: with teachers, student teachers and Early Years practitioners. We do this by providing quality professional learning and create learning resources to support Global Citizenship and Anti-Racist Education across all sectors of education. Our approach is inclusive and participatory with a creative and responsive approach to learning.

Constitutional objectives
The company’s object is to promote education which supports young people in Scotland to challenge global inequality creating a fairer future for all In furtherance of thereof but not otherwise: a) to provide a Global Education Centre for teachers, student teachers and Local Authority staff in Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian, West Lothian, The Scottish Borders, Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire b) to work in partnership with NGOs (Non Governmental Organisations), IGOs (Inter Government Organisations), and statutory bodies seeking to promote the incorporation of a Global Citizenship approach in Scottish Education
