02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Current services include registered services, both building and community based for those most in need of support and social interaction. The charity provides social support by paid staff and volunteers to individuals and families, promoting social connection for all ages, encouraging, and maintaining independence through natural support networks and tailoring outcome focused support to ensure individuals receive the right type and level of support matched to their specific needs. Demand for registered services increased again in 2024, demonstrating the continued issue of social isolation and loneliness within the community. Creating opportunities to connect remained a primary focus, building upon the registered service, the JCS Wellbeing Hub, and the community led initiative Welcome Wednesdays. In addition, with many individuals and families under increasing financial pressure, the charity continues to provide a financial assistance programme to assist those in need.
