02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Safeguarding historic built heritage. Submit comments to the local authority on planning applications within the Conservation Area and commenting on applications for listed building consents. Membership of Lanark Community Development Trust and other similar committees set up by the Local Authority to consult on work being undertaken by L.A, or on issues having an effect on the local community

Constitutional objectives
Objects The objects of the society shall be to promote and encourage the following objects by charitable means, but not otherwise. a) To stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of the area of the town and its surroundings. b) To encourage the preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity or historic interest. c) To encourage high standards of architecture and town planning in Lanark and District d) To persue these ends by means of meetings, exhibitions, lectures, conferences and publicity, and the promotion of schemes of a charitable nature.
