02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

To promote the study, practice and knowledge of music in Scotland and further afield, encourage artistic and creative innovation, and provide opportunities for emerging and established professional singers, composers and teachers. Realised by: maintaining and managing a professional vocal ensemble to present public concerts, produce commercial recordings and commission the composition of new musical works. facilitating a wide range of training opportunities available without restriction to anybody from beginner upwards wanting to enjoy the experience of group-singing and develop their skills, all with an emphasis on enhancing participants’ physical and psychological health and wellbeing. Any member of the general public is afforded the opportunity to gain hands-on group-singing experience under the leadership of Cappella Nova’s Artistic Directors through the regular provision of open workshops and performances opportunities, regularly provided at no cost to participants.

Constitutional objectives

The Company's objects are:- (1) To promote the study, practice and knowledge of music in Scotland and other countries and other musical, literary, artistic, cultural and educational purposes connected therewith, and for these purposes to establish, maintain and manage a choir or choirs and/or an orchestra or orchestras. ( 2 ) To organise, manage and- provide or assist in organising, managing and providing choral, vocal, instrumental and orchestral concerts and performances, meetings, lectures, study circles and similar activities connected with music in any part of the world, in furtherance of the object declared in Clause III (1) hereof.
