02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The purpose of the charity is to organise or provide or assist in the organisation and provision of facilities which will enable and encourage pupils of schools and universities or other institutions of further education (including professional and technical education approved by the trustees) in any part if the United Kingdom to play golf or other games or sports and thereby to assist in ensuring that due attention is given to the physical education and development of such pupils as well as to the development and occupation of their minds and with a view to furthering this object. In furtherance of these objectives the charity aims to organise an annual cultural exchange between four school children of Madras College in St Andrews and four children from Ohtawara City schools in Japan

Constitutional objectives

the objects of the Trust are:- (One) to organise or provide or assist in the organisation and provision of facilities which will enable and encourage pupils of schools and universities or other institutions of I further education (including professional and technical education . approved by the Trustees) n any part of the United Kingdom to play golf or other games or sports and thereby to assist in ensuring that due attention is given to the physical education and I development of such pupils as well as to the development and occupation of their minds and with a \ view to furthering this object. (1) to provide or assist in the provision of golf or games or sports equipment of every kind for the use of such pupils. (2) to provide or assist in the provision of courses, lectures, demonstrations and coaching of such pupils and for teachers who organise or supervise playing and coaching of golf or their games or sports at such schools, universities and other institutions. (3) to promote, provide or assist in the promotion and provision of training colleges for the purpose of training teachers in the coaching of golf or other games or sports at such schools, universities or institutions., (4) to lay out, manage, equip and maintain or assist in the laying out, management, equipment and maintenance of golf courses, playing fields or appropriate indoor facilities or accommodation to be used for the teaching and playing of golf or other sports or games by such pupils.
